This was announced by the russian Minister for Sport, Mikhail Degtyarev.
The FIH has allowed russian athletes and teams to take part in international competitions without any restrictions – with their flag, national anthem and other national symbols. The ban on hosting international tournaments in russia has also been lifted.
Consequently, all sanctions against russia imposed following the start of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022 have been lifted.
The FIH has become the 21st international federation to lift the sanctions imposed on russia. This process gained momentum after the IOC reinstated the russian Olympic Committee (ROC) on 7 July.
It should be noted that field hockey is included in the programme for the 2028 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles (USA).
