Apple has begun blocking russian accounts due to Western sanctions

Users receive messages stating that they cannot make purchases because their data ‘fully or partially matches the data of one or more parties on the list of persons subject to sanctions by the US government or another government.’

Apple explains that it is obliged to comply with applicable laws and regulations. While such cases were previously isolated, the restrictions have now become widespread.

Such matches may affect tens of thousands of russian users, who may lose access to their Apple IDs as a result. Device owners are already complaining about blocking, profile deletion and inability to use services.

According to iPhone users, a message has appeared in their account settings stating that they need to undergo additional identity verification and upload a photo of their passport.

Without this, it is not possible to make purchases in the App Store, and there are difficulties accessing Game Centre, games and iCloud.
