Company based in Vienna supplied components to the russian army

This was reported on Monday by the Austrian Ministry of the Interior, according to Reuters.

The ministry’s statement noted that the company had falsified end-user certificates in order to supply equipment subject to sanctions, in particular specialised metalworking tools and CNC machine tools, which can be used to manufacture parts and tools.

The statement also noted that the company’s 28-year-old Belarusian director was arrested in May.

The company, which the ministry did not name, concealed its shipments through a network of front companies in Turkey, the United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Belarus, Kyrgyzstan, South Korea, Poland and Lithuania, the ministry said.

According to the ministry, the equipment was supplied to companies linked to the russian state-owned industrial conglomerate ‘Rostec’. The latest findings by investigators indicate that these goods were used to manufacture military equipment, including engines for cruise missiles and fighter jets.

The russian Embassy in Vienna declined to comment. ‘Rostec’ did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

On the same day that the main suspect was arrested, the authorities seized CNC machine tools and specialised tools worth around 140,000 euros.

Evidence seized during four raids in August last year indicates that, since 2022, industrial goods worth over €3.3 million have been supplied to russian arms manufacturers, the ministry added.
