International Modern Pentathlon Union lifts sanctions on Belarusian athletes

This was announced on the organisation’s official website.

From now on, Belarusian athletes will be able to compete in international events under their national flag, both in individual disciplines and in team tournaments. The federation explained that the decision was taken in accordance with the updated recommendations of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

The new rules will come into force as early as June 2026 during the World Cup stage in Budapest. However, at the upcoming World Cup stage, which starts on 13 May in Pazardzhik, Bulgaria, Belarusian athletes will still compete under a neutral status.
