Montenegro will introduce visas for russian nationals from 1 November

This was announced on the Montenegrin government’s website.

The country has thus fulfilled the requirements of Negotiating Chapter 24, ‘Justice, Freedom and Security’, for accession to the European Union. This decision will also enable Montenegro to receive around €4 million under the EU’s Growth Plan for the Western Balkans.

To simplify the visa application process, Montenegro has allowed applications to be submitted not only to Montenegrin diplomatic missions but also to VFS Global centres. The services of these centres will now be available in India, Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Azerbaijan, Turkey, the UAE and russia.

There are also plans to open centres in Belarus, China, Kazakhstan, Armenia, Pakistan, the Philippines, Qatar, Bahrain, Nepal, Uzbekistan and Saudi Arabia in the near future.

Separately, Montenegro is currently working to create a new visa information system that will be synchronised with the European system and the security standards of the Schengen Area. This will enable the introduction of electronic visas, which will be available online.
