According to data unearthed through a freedom of information request submitted to the HM Treasury, more than 100 UK-based companies confessed to violating British sanctions against russia. In a bid to lessen their penalties, these companies voluntarily stepped forward and cooperated with investigations.

Given russia’s significant integration into the global economy, many UK companies maintain ongoing business relationships with russian entities, making it arduous to comply with the sanctions.

As the UK persists in asserting its global influence and defending international norms, it needs to devise effective strategies to enforce sanctions and deter further aggression. This delicate task requires a careful balance between holding russia accountable and minimizing the impact on UK businesses.
