Putin said that Moscow may refuse to supply gas to the EU before the European Union imposes restrictions on it. Earlier, Putin said that russia was ready to resume supplies at any moment.

"They (the EU - ed.) plan to introduce restrictions on the purchase of russian gas, including liquefied gas, in a month, and in a year, in 2027, new restrictions, up to a complete ban.

And now other markets are opening up. And perhaps it would be more profitable for us to stop supplying the European market right now. To go to those markets that are opening up and gain a foothold there," Putin said in an interview with Kremlin pool journalist Pavel Zarubin.

The Kremlin leader called this ‘not a decision’ but ‘thinking out loud,’ but promised to ‘definitely instruct the government’ of the russian federation to work on this issue together with companies.

Commenting on the situation on the energy markets caused by the war in Iran, Putin expressed confidence that American companies would leave the European market for places ‘where they pay more.’
