Since the beginning of russia's war against Ukraine, after which numerous sanctions were imposed on russia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland has issued 200 permits to circumvent these restrictions.

The Finnish Ministry of Foreign Affairs received more than 500 requests, of which 200 were approved. Most often, the requests concerned the lifting of restrictions on personal sanctions and permits to transfer funds.

The permits issued also concerned, among other things, the process of companies leaving russia and the use of frozen funds to pay utility bills of sanctioned companies.

As explained by the Head of the Sanctions Department of the Finnish Foreign Ministry, Pia Sarivaara, such a power (lifting of sanctions - ed.) may allow a sanctioned person to use frozen funds to make payments related to property.
