The EU and Belgium have not yet been able to agree on the use of russian assets

According to Euronews sources in the Belgian government, there is growing concern in the Belgian government about the lack of alternative proposals from the European Commission on the use of frozen russian assets to finance Ukraine.

‘It is important for Belgium that all options are considered. Every possible approach must be carefully and transparently examined to ensure the best solution,’ said one of the sources, adding that they have not yet seen these options.

The same Euronews source said that Belgium is ‘not yet disappointed’ by the lack of other proposals from the European Commission, ‘but time is running out and we remain constructive.’

One of Euronews' European sources said that the EU still hopes to reach an agreement with Belgium, but acknowledged that time is running out.
