The International Archery Federation has lifted the restrictions on russian athletes

The World Archery Executive Board adopted the relevant decision during an online meeting on 14 August, following a review of the decision taken by the Executive Board of the International Olympic Committee on 7 July 2026.

From now on, russian athletes and teams will be able to compete in World Archery tournaments under their own flag and with their national anthem. The restrictions introduced in 2022 have also been lifted. This applies, in particular, to the World Cup and the World Archery Championships.

However, russian representatives must comply with World Archery’s standard requirements regarding entry, eligibility and anti-doping rules. Their participation may also be affected by the laws of the host country, visa restrictions and decisions by state authorities.

The decision applies only to tournaments directly sanctioned by World Archery. For competitions organised under the auspices of World Archery Europe, the final decision rests with the continental federation.

World Archery also stated that it would continue to support the Ukrainian archery community and all those affected by the war.

In May 2026, World Archery adopted a similar decision regarding Belarus. At that time, the organisation permitted Belarusian athletes and teams to compete in its events under their national colours.
