This has been reported on the UCI’s official website.
The decision was taken during a meeting of the UCI Management Committee, which took place from 2 to 4 June in Desenzano del Garda, Italy.
In accordance with the IOC’s recommendations from May 2026, all restrictions on Belarusian cyclists’ participation in international tournaments have been lifted. From now on, they may compete under their national flag at World Championships and World Cups.
In addition, sanctions against russians have been eased. They no longer need to apply for ‘neutral athlete’ status. Representatives of the aggressor country have been admitted to team competitions. At present, only russian national symbols remain banned.
It should be recalled that sanctions against russia and Belarus in cycling were introduced on 28 February 2022 in response to the invasion of Ukraine. Since then, the aggression against our country has not ceased, but international sports organisations, with the assistance of the IOC, have begun to gradually lift the restrictions.
