The UK has imposed sanctions on russian cyber networks

This was announced by the British government, according to “European Pravda”.

Britain is imposing sanctions on 24 individuals and organisations behind destructive cyber and hybrid operations, including cybercriminals linked to russian intelligence services.

The sanctions list includes senior officials from the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the russian Armed Forces – Vyacheslav Stafeev, Ivan Senin and Ivan Kasyanenko – against whom sanctions have been imposed for their role in directing cyber and hybrid operations.

Cyber Unit “29155” of the Main Directorate of the General Staff of the russian Armed Forces collaborated with cybercriminals, notably the company IMPULS, with the aim of recruiting hackers and cyber specialists from universities and academies across russia.

Restrictions are also being imposed on the individuals behind the Lumma Stealer cyberattack, which enables cybercriminals to collect confidential information from compromised devices on a large scale. According to the British government, russia has used the stolen login credentials to carry out cyber-espionage operations around the world.

The new sanctions are also directed against 10 individuals behind Rybar LLC, including directors, senior management and content designers. The media company is funded by the russian state and is responsible for spreading false narratives about Ukraine and interfering in the European Parliament elections and elections in Moldova and Armenia.

Furthermore, the UK, together with EU Member States, holds the 16th Centre of the russian Federal Security Service (FSB) responsible for the attack on Poland’s power grid.

“This reckless attack failed, but could have left 500,000 citizens without electricity in the middle of winter. This is yet another example of the russian state’s irresponsible attempts to sow chaos across Europe,” the government added.
