According to ‘European Pravda’, Cole made this statement during a press conference in Minsk, as reported by ‘Pool Pervogo’.
The US Special Representative announced the lifting of sanctions following a meeting with the self-proclaimed President of Belarus, Alexander Lukashenko.
According to Cole, restrictions will be lifted on the Belarusian Ministry of Finance, the Development Bank of Belarus and Belinvestbank. In addition, the “Belarusian Potash Company” and “Belaruskali”, which are the main producers of potash fertilisers, will be removed from the US sanctions list.
The US President’s Special Representative stated that the lifting of restrictions would take place swiftly, and noted that he had discussed the matter with officials from the Ministry of Finance prior to his visit to Minsk.
As it emerged on the evening of 19 March, following Cole’s meeting with Lukashenko, the Belarusian regime released a group of political prisoners.
Since the summer of 2025, following contacts between the Trump administration and Lukashenko and the easing of US sanctions, over a hundred Belarusian political prisoners have been released from prison.
