The US military has detained another tanker belonging to russia's ‘shadow fleet’

This is stated in a message from the agency on social network X, reports European Pravda.

As noted, during the night, the US armed forces conducted an inspection, naval blockade, and boarding of the Aquila II without incident.

 
“The Aquila II was operating in violation of President Trump's quarantine for sanctioned vessels in the Caribbean. It fled, and we went after it. The Department of War tracked and pursued this vessel from the Caribbean to the Indian Ocean,” the statement said.

“No other country on Earth has the ability to impose its will in any sphere. On land, in the air, or at sea, our armed forces will find you and punish you. You will run out of fuel long before you escape from us,” the Pentagon added.

According to the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, this tanker is involved in the export of sanctioned russian oil/petroleum products from Russian ports in the Black Sea, the Baltic Sea, and the Pacific region, in particular through the use of deceptive practices.

The tanker is considered part of the “shadow fleet” affiliated with SUNNE CO LIMITED, which was sanctioned by the US on January 10, 2025, for its activities in the russian energy sector.

This is another detention in a series of similar ones that took place at the beginning of the year.
