The US supports the EU's plan to use russian assets to support Ukraine

According to European Pravda, this was reported to Reuters on Friday by an informed American source.

According to Reuters' interlocutor, Washington ‘fully supports (the EU – Ed.) and the steps they are currently taking to be able to use these assets as a tool.’

The source also said that the US is currently assessing the consequences of its decision to impose sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil, adding that ‘there are even more things we could do to try to increase pressure’ on russia.

The European Commission has proposed a plan that would allow EU governments to use up to €185 billion – most of russia's sovereign assets currently frozen in Europe – to support Ukraine without confiscating them.
