According to a Ukrinform correspondent, legislative initiative No. 14324 was supported by 257 MPs.
The authors of the document emphasise that, despite the sanctions imposed, the European Union’s trade with russia and Belarus remains a significant source of revenue for these regimes, contributing to the financing of their military-industrial complexes.
The initiators of the resolution note that a complete cessation of trade with russia and Belarus is an important investment in the national and regional security of Poland and the Baltic states.
At the same time, MPs emphasise that the loss of the logistics hub currently provided by Poland and the Baltic states for trade between russia and Belarus and the EU would deal a significant blow to the financing of the aggressor’s military-industrial complex.
In this context, the Ukrainian Parliament calls on the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Poland, the governments of the Republic of Lithuania, the Republic of Latvia and the Republic of Estonia to initiate a complete ban on export and import operations for legal entities, including trade and the transit of goods, with the russian federation and Belarus, as well as to secure the support of the European Union for the inclusion of relevant restrictions in future sanctions packages.
It is expected that the introduction of a total economic embargo on the eastern borders of the European Union will serve as a shining example for partner states, both within the EU and across the entire democratic world, and will significantly help Ukrainians to stand firm in the struggle for their very existence.
