The russian company VK is taking Apple to court in Moscow

This was reported by the russian media outlet Meduza.

If the court’s ruling is not complied with, VK is demanding that a fine be imposed on Apple.

On 25 June this year, Apple removed all apps belonging to the russian holding company VK from its App Store.

Apple explained this move as being due to sanctions. Among the removed apps are ‘Zen’, ‘Odnoklassniki’, ‘VKontakte’, VK Video and others.

The CEO of VK is Vladimir Kirienko, the son of Sergei Kirienko, who has held the post of First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the russian federation for over nine years and oversees russia’s domestic policy.

Kirienko senior also oversees the propaganda information space in the occupied territories of Ukraine.

He is considered one of the most influential figures close to the russian leader, Vladimir Putin.
