A district court in North Karelia has begun to consider a case in which a man tried to export sanctioned goods to russia.

In October 2022, at the Niirala checkpoint, border guards found 31 GPS locators and six echo sounders in the suspect's car.

The total value of the devices hidden in the car is estimated at 15,000 euros.

According to the prosecutor, the man was carrying devices that can be found in retail stores. However, their import into russia is prohibited by EU sanctions because they are so-called dual-use goods that can be used for military purposes.
