Friedman came under UK sanctions in March 2022. All his accounts in British banks were frozen. The British government allowed him to spend about 1 million pounds ($1.2 million) on «basic needs».
At the same time, the UK authorities have recently refused to issue additional licenses to Mikhail Fridman, who is under sanctions, to pay for the services of a personal driver and services related to the management of the businessman's house in London.
The government blocked the payment for the driver's services «on the grounds that the defendant can travel by public transport».
In addition to the driver's expenses, the British authorities refused to authorize payments of 30,000 pounds ($36,473) a month for services related to the management of Fridman's mansion, to pay for internal telephone lines, audio and television equipment and staff costs. The authorities explained the refusal by the fact that Fridman did not provide enough information about how much money would be spent on entertainment and how much - on security.
It is now known that the russian oligarch has fled the UK and is in Moscow.
