This was announced by the head of government, Yulia Svyrydenko.

‘The government has decided to designate the State Property Fund as the managing body for this property, with a view to subsequently transferring it to Ukrzaliznytsia for use. With this decision, we are launching a mechanism for the seizure of the aggressor’s property and its subsequent utilisation,’ she noted.

According to her, the estimated value of the carriages is around 2.2 billion hryvnias. They are in working order and can be used until the end of their service life for freight transport, including military transport.

It is reported that these carriages belonged to sanctioned russian residents, in particular ‘VEB-Leasing’, the state development corporation ‘VEB. RF‘, JSC ’State Transport Leasing Company‘, JSC “Nord” – a subsidiary of ’Sberbank Leasing" – and other russian companies in the finance and logistics sectors.

Prior to the full-scale invasion in 2022, the russians used them to transport goods across Ukraine and EU countries. After hostilities began, they remained on Ukrainian territory and were seized. Last year, they were confiscated, Svyrydenko noted.
