President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree introducing NSDC sanctions against five individuals, among them russian Olympic champions Stanislav Pozdnyakov and Mikhail Mamiashvili, who publicly support the war against Ukraine.

Pozdnyakov led the russian Olympic Committee from 2018 to 2024, while Mamiashvili heads the russian Wrestling Federation and has previously been involved in scandals related to international competitions.

The restrictions include asset freezes, suspension of trade operations, a ban on capital withdrawal, revocation of licenses, and the stripping of Ukrainian state awards.

The sanctions are imposed for a period of 10 years, with the exception of the permanent revocation of state awards.

In addition to the athletes, the list includes former head of the Presidential Office Andrii Bohdan, businessman Bohdan Pukish, linked to Viktor Medvedchuk, and russian manager Alan Kiryukhin, who works with a payment system used to circumvent sanctions.
